The recent base rate cut was good news for all, but it was especially great for first time buyers who have understandably been nervous about getting on the property ladder.

So where would be an ideal location for someone looking to buy their first home? As it turns out, an increasing number of first time buyers are looking to Scotland.

Two cities in Scotland have topped the top 10 hotspots for first time buyers as part of the First Time Buyer Appeal Index 2024. The temperature outside may be dropping, but Scotland is heating up...

Glasgow claims the top spot

Glasgow has once again been named as the most popular area in the UK for first time buyers, a title it has now held for three consecutive years.

Glasgow is a great spot for professionals, couples and families alike. The city, the largest in Scotland, has a significant population of 25 to 35 year olds, and is known for its job opportunities, with 61% of the workforce being graduates.

Furthermore, Glasgow was recently voted as the friendliest city in the UK for 2024, beating out the likes of London and Oxford.

This cosy three bedroom end terrace property is available in Glasgow right now.

Dundee is the second hottest spot in the UK

Dundee has come in a close second place, beating out the rest of the UK in the process.

Dundee is Scotland's fourth largest city, with just under 150,000 people calling the city their home. It offers the modern city living experience with the convenience of having a smaller population.

Dundee is a walkable city, with many walks and trails available and incredible views across the River Tay.

This well appointed two bedroom apartment, inside a classic Victorian building, offers modern living with a period twist in the heart of Dundee.
