In Portsmouth, members of the community take part in a Mens Kitchen learn to cook scheme along with Portsmouth Ambassador, Alan Knight MBE
We’re sending our congratulations to the regional winners of this season’s English Football League (EFL) Community Club of the Year – as sponsored by Your Move – who have recently been announced.
The regional winners are:
- Sunderland AFC (North East and Yorkshire region)
- Blackburn Rovers (North West region)
- Port Vale (Midlands region)
- Portsmouth (South East and East region)
- Bristol Rovers (South West and Wales region)
- Watford (London)
Each EFL Club has been chosen for the great work they’ve been doing in their local communities and the impact they have had in changing people’s lives, bearing in mind physical and mental wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, employability as well as the challenge of tackling loneliness. All supporting the belief held by both the EFL, and Your Move, that the power of football continues to be undeniable and extends far beyond 90 minutes.
Your Move is sponsoring the Award as the Official Communities Supporter of the EFL and as one of its Official Supporter’s, following on from the support we gave the League last season.
It means that, as well as supporting the EFL at national level, we’ll be working far more closely with grassroots clubs and communities associated with our branches. The Your Move EFL Community Club of the Year Award is all part of this as well as our exciting Your Club Your Kit initiative that we’re currently running. This gives grassroots football clubs or school football teams across the country the chance to win free kits - and so far we’ve been delighted with the response.
Louise Hudson, Marketing Director for Your Move, and who was one of the judges of the Your Move EFL Community Club of the Year entries commented:
“We know that grassroots football is so important to local communities, for so many reasons, and that, in recent times when football couldn’t be played, so many have become reliant on alternative support that the EFL Clubs could offer.
I am delighted that Your Move, and our teams, can be associated with such a fantastic initiative. The standard of all the entries – not just the winners – was superb and I was particularly impressed how quickly and effectively all the Clubs’ Community Trusts responded to the challenges presented by COVID. Well done to all regional winners and keep up the good work.”
The Overall Winner of the Your Move EFL Community Club of the Year Award will be announced at the EFL Awards, broadcast live on Sky Sports Football, on Thursday 29th April at 7.30pm.
