Your Move is delighted to be supporting Mark Harding who, is not only one of our landlords but, was recently crowned Regional Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards, and who has set out on a gruelling walk to raise money for the charity, Walking for the Wounded.
Mark will be taking part in the event with six fellow soldiers from the 4th Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, walking from Wigton to Penrith, before taking the path down the A6 back in to Carlisle; all within a 10-day period that started on 10th December.
The challenge itself is tough enough but considering that Mark, an Afghanistan veteran, has also overcome personal challenges to take part really makes his efforts truly amazing. Back in 2010 he sustained a serious injury whilst in Afghanistan that led many to believe who would never walk again yet, because of his perseverance, he has made a strong progress in his recovery and undertaken numerous fundraising challenges as a result. The walk this month being his latest.
Walking for the Wounded, which Mark is raising fund for, is a leading charity that aims to care and support those who have served in the military and who have been wounded; whether mentally, socially or physically. It “gets those who’ve served – and their families - back on their feet”.
We wish Mark, and his fellow soldiers, all the very best for the challenge with teams in Wigton, and across Cumbria, supporting him along the way, including our Carlisle team who hope to be there as he finishes the walk in the town on 20th December.
