Why move to Ashford?

Ashford is a popular commuter town for professionals travelling into London. The fastest train takes just 38 minutes to reach the capital and there are also great links to the popular seaside towns of Folkestone and Hythe as well as great access routes into Europe. If the draw of the city or the coast aren’t your thing, Ashford is also surrounded by beautiful countryside, with lots of quaint villages, country pubs and local schools, including Pluckley, home of long running TV favourite, Darling Buds of May.

Leisure and hospitality

There are a number of social and recreational activities nearby, including Eastwell Manor; an exclusive Champneys Spa Hotel, where you can pamper yourself or enjoy their first class gym. Hidden gem, The Riverside Inn, is popular with locals, or if you prefer some continental cuisine two Kent favourites are Amici Restaurant which serves southern Italian dishes or head to Po Thai on Park Street for some Thai food.

Schools

If you are a parent relocating to the area, there are a number of fantastic schools, including The Norton Knatchbull Senior School for boys established in the 17th Century. They have a very good academic record and also specialise in a wide variety of sports including cricket, rugby, tennis and athletics.

Local market

The area has seen a lot of investment recently with many new build developments springing up. Typically Ashford has a strong market for 2 bedroom flats, fetching anything from £130,000 to £230,000. For something a little more affordable, the town of Folkestone might be an area for you to explore, with 2 bedroom flats being sold recently for as little as £70,000. That’s not to say you should disregard the area if you are looking for a large family home, as 6 bedroom detached properties are also available, some holding a price tag of £625,000 or more.

The Your Move Ashford branch are just as strong in the rental market. The team manage a number of properties for local hospital workers, young professionals and commuter tenants alike. Lettings Manager, Mandy, has 16 years lettings experience to her credit and manages a mix of accommodation from rooms for as little as £500pcm up to 4 and 5 bedroom detached family homes priced in and around £1600pcm. Mandy and the team, have an excellent reputation, often seeing landlords returning to the branch and recommending their services to others.
