Why move to West Denton?

West Denton is an area to the west of Newcastle city centre. The area’s main attraction is its proximity to Newcastle and everything the city centre has to offer from the stunning Quayside, to restaurants, shops and nightlife.  West Denton encompasses some of the North East's preferred school catchment areas and is also a short drive to the breath-taking countryside of the Tyne valley.

Transport and Travel

West Denton is well connected to several major A roads; the A1(M) going north to Edinburgh and South to London and the A69 to Carlisle.  The A186 leads directly into the city centre.

The nearest train station is Newcastle Central, and the Tyne & Wear Metro can be accessed via Bank Foot or Kingston Park stations.  West Denton lies on a busy bus corridor, with frequent services in operation in and around Newcastle.

Newcastle airport, offering domestic and international flights, is easily accessible via the A1(M) and only 5 miles away.

Parks and Recreation

The centre of Newcastle has several huge open spaces. Town Moor covers more than 1,000 acres - bigger than Hyde Park and Hampstead Heath together. Leazes Park is the city's oldest park. It was opened in 1873 and today has tennis courts, basketball courts, a play area and a bowling green.

A visit to Newcastle United F.C.'s home ground, St James's Park, is one of the top things to do in Newcastle and for rugby union fans, Kingston Park, the home of Newcastle Falcons at is also nearby.

The Tyne Valley, which is just a short drive away, is a beautiful, peaceful and sparsely populated valley around 35 miles in length with the reservoir and neighbouring Kielder Forest dominating the uppermost part of the valley.

The stunning Northumberland coastline is equally as accessible via the A1(M).

Schools

There are numerous schools and educational establishments for children of all ages in the area and West Denton encompasses some of the North East's preferred school catchment areas.

Restaurants and Shopping

Key shopping destinations include Northumberland Street, which is home to Newcastle's premier department store, Fenwicks, and Eldon Square shopping centre has more than 150 shops.  The city also boasts Grainger Market. First opened in 1835, it now has more than 100 traders selling meat, fruit, vegetables, gifts and clothes.

A few miles outside the city you will find intu Metrocentre (the second largest shopping centre in the UK).

Restaurants in Newcastle cater to all tastes and budgets and some offer fabulous views over the River Tyne and Quayside.

Housing Market

West Denton offers homes for every type of renter or buyer from older, spacious, detached and semi-detached family homes to brand new modern developments.  At the other end of the budget spectrum, there are many flats for sale.
