Whitehaven is a beautiful Georgian town situated on the West Coast. It was originally built on shipping and mining in the area.
Whitehaven is an attractive town steeped in history and is one of the 40 gem towns in England. You will always be welcomed here and we are on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. The population of Whitehaven is approx 24,000.
Transport and travel links
Whitehaven has business and access links via the A595 and also has train links all the way along the Coast. The A595 links are convenient for all Commercial Areas of West Cumbria.
Parks and recreation
We boast many parks in the area. We have the popular beautiful Whitehaven Georgian harbour and The Beacon which tells the history of shipbuilding and mining disasters in the area. The rum story is steeped in the spirit of Whitehaven and set in the the original shop telling the story of the rum trade and how it came about here. It also boasts the Whitehaven Castle and St Nicholas Church Tower.
We also have the coast to coast walks which goes from St Bees right through the Lake District National Park.

There are a large number of schools in the area Junior and Senior schools and also furthur education colleges including the new state of the art Energus Building which is a Centre of Excellence for Conferences, Skills and Training.
